Silas yawned widely as he groggily felt his way up the hallway of the house. His fingertips trailed along the wall as he navigated himself, trying to get to the bathroom without opening his eyes too much and therefore without waking up more than he had to to take a piss and get back into bed. He had opted for an early night after having a bad night sleep the night before. He knew Tyra was at college for a late class, Sam and Matt were out on a date thing, and Jason and Tim were out on the piss. He wasn't sure where Mac was, but when Silas went to bed around eight, the house had been quiet and empty. It was probably why he figured there was no point putting pants on for a quick trip to the bathroom. He hadn't been asleep that long, so getting around in his jocks was probably safe. It wasn't like he was exactly thinking very clearly being half asleep.
But he was awake enough to be pretty certain that as he made his way up the hall, he could hear someone throwing up. After the food poisoning fiasco, it wasn't like it was a foreign sound around the joint. Silas paused, frowning blearily in confusion as he tried to contemplate the situation. If someone was throwing up, that mean the bathroom was occupied, right? That meant no immediate pee and he moaned a little at the fact he had gotten out of bed and walked all this way (which felt a lot further than two doors down) to not have access to the toilet. He was still contemplating his dilemma in the hallway outside the bathroom when the the door abruptly burst open and Mac came rushing out of it. The only thing was, she was obviously not expecting Silas - or anyone - to be standing there and she banged right into him, dropping whatever it as that she was holding in her hands and nearly sending them both crashing to the ground. Silas managed to grab her arm, catching her just before she lost her balance. "Hey, where's the fire?" he asked her in amusement, keeping a hold of her to make sure she was steady. But once she was okay, he automatically stooped down to pick up what she had dropped, only to find himself pinned against the wall by Taylor's unexpectedly strong arm as she reflexively rough-handled him to prevent him grabbing the item.
"Silas!" Taylor finally gasped, which came out more like a hoarse squeak. Her eyes were wide as she held him against the wall, swallowing heavily as she dared to glance down and make sure he hadn't picked it up. "Wait. I can explain," she added hastily, but made no room to release him.
Silas blinked in surprise at the whole event, his tired brain catching up a few moments later. "Explain what?" he asked both curiously and slightly scared to breathe in case she cuffed him. He wasn't sure when trying to pee had become a crime, but he was willing to roll with it and prevent arrest. Still, he was Silas Botwin, and craned his neck to try and get a view over her arm at what was on the floor that she didn't want him to see.
Taylor caught his chin in her hand, stopping him looking once again. The only thing was, she had no idea how to explain that was going to placate him. She had been staying with Tyra's boyfriend long enough to know he was curious, and pretty observant when he wanted to be. Why had she assumed she had the house to herself?! In fact, when Jason told her Tim wanted to go out and get drunk, she had wholeheartedly agreed it was a good idea, just to get a few moments in the house alone, even if she was worried Jason would come home trashed and be in a state the following morning. "I'm planning a surprise," she found falling out of her mouth before she could stop it. "For Jason, somethin'... to make up for the weddin'. Somethin'... sexy." She cringed inwardly. She was so going to Hell for these lies. There wasn't anything planned about it.
"Maybe I can help?" Silas suggested, it coming out sounding funny, considering her hand had his lips squished up towards his nose. His eyes were still trying to get a view south, though, and if either of them didn't know it was completely innocent, he could be accused of trying to perve on her. "Minus the sexy part, of course. Oh my god! Look at that fucking spider!" He suddenly shrieked, pointing up to the wall behind her head. She jumped at his sudden change in tone, which he expected, considering she was already wired from something or other. She released her grip to whip around to look for the spider and with quick reflexes, Silas crouched down and scooped up the thing she dropped, already looking to see what it was. Then it was his turn to gasp in surprise.
Taylor was already looking back at the wayward weed dealer, about ready to boot him up the ass for pulling the very old spider stunt on her, and even more ready to boot herself up the ass for falling for it. But his face said it all. "I-I can explain!" she tried again, waving her hand a little and then putting it over her mouth as she just watched him anxiously.
"Uh... Mac? I think you already passed the sexy times part," Silas offered, holding up the pregnancy test box and giving it a small shake, realising that it was empty. "I think you might win with the surprise part, though. Can I watch when you tell him?" he had to add, unable to stop himself smirking. He didn't meant to pull the piss, he was actually quite stoked that she might have news for her husband-to-be. It had to be something that could make up for their missed wedding, right?
Taylor snatched the box back and with a lack of anywhere else to get it out of view, she shoved it down the front of her t-shirt, which was actually one of Jason's t-shirts because it had been in easy reach when she got home from work and felt like she was about bursting out of her uniform. "It was negative!" she snapped, almost growling at him.
Silas immediately felt like a gigantic pisshead. "Oh fuck, sorry, Mac. I didn't... I just assumed... but didn't I just hear you..." He floundered. It wasn't like he knew how to deal with a situation like this. He didn't have sister and his mother never afforded much advice on dealing with chicks. He had girlfriends, and there had been the whole pregnant thing with Megan, but this was different.
"No, it wasn't!" Taylor quickly back-tracked, putting her hands over her face with a helpless whimper. She stayed like that for a few moments, trying to claw back her composure and no give into the obvious mood swing that she could feel bubbling up inside her. She'd had a crap day and she wasn't intending to be all sneaky and covert about any of this, not after last time. But she had just had a sense she wanted to know first before she told anyone, and now here Silas was with the information and all Taylor could feel was guilt that it wasn't Jason who knew first. She refused to turn it into another stressful drama, though. No one needed it, and she wasn't sure she would survive it if it was. It just didn't solve any of the confusion brewing inside her, and her stomach was coiled with a uncomfortable nausea.
Silas blinked and rested his tongue between his lips briefly before he spoke. "Okay..." he began, watching her in concern. "So, just to take a long stab in the dark here, I'm going to guess it was... positive? But that's a good thing! A little baby, all cute and... babyish. And just for the record, I am going to be an awesome uncle. It's a good thing..." He paused, realising she still had her hands over her face. "... isn't it? It's not, is it? It's not a good thing. I thought... why isn't it a good thing?"
Taylor really just wanted to smack him in the face, but she was projecting. None of it was Silas' fault and he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was angry at herself, no one else. Angry and frustrated. "Because I don't know if I want it, alright? Go and fuckin' find someone else to be a goddamn uncle with!" she snapped and stalked up the hallway, disappearing into her and Jason's room and slamming the door behind her.
